Hickory, Shagbark: Carya ovata
60-100’, slower growing, tall straight trunk, upland forest tree. 1.5-2” edible nuts with thick husks. Attract many wildlife species. 200+ year lifespan. Prefers well drained soil usually found with oaks. Strong hardwood used for handles, flooring etc. Bark has layered large ‘flakes’ giving a shaggy appearance. Plant smaller seedlings to accommodate large taproots. 6-12” seedlings, bundle of 25.
